SOCIAL PILLAR
Social is a core pillar of Business Council and plays a vital role in fostering a cohesive, inclusive, and connected member community. Through intentional social programming and thoughtfully curated events, BC creates opportunities for members to build meaningful relationships, strengthen cross-committee collaboration, and engage with one another beyond professional and academic settings. From large-scale organization-wide events to smaller, community-building initiatives, these experiences promote balance, well-being, and a strong sense of belonging. By cultivating an environment where members feel welcomed, supported, and connected, the Social Pillar reinforces Business Council’s culture and enhances the overall member experience.
STARVED ROCK
The Starved Rock is an annual Business Council tradition that brings members together for a day of outdoor exploration and connection. Through hiking and shared experiences in a natural setting, members strengthen relationships, unwind from academic commitments, and build community beyond campus.
SUMMER TRIP
The Summer Getaway is a multi-day social experience designed to foster connection and relaxation among BC members. By spending time together off campus, members strengthen friendships, build camaraderie, and create lasting memories in a casual, welcoming environment.
SKI TRIP
The Winter Break Ski Trip is an annual social event that brings BC members together during break for an active and engaging shared experience. Whether on the slopes or off, the trip promotes bonding, balance, and connection while strengthening relationships across the organization.
BACK-TO-SCHOOL BONFIRE
The Back-to-School Bonfire is an annual event held at the start of the academic year to welcome returning and new members. Through a casual, community-focused atmosphere, the bonfire helps set the tone for the year by fostering connection, inclusion, and a strong sense of belonging.
BIZ BALL
Biz Ball is an annual bracket-style basketball tournament that brings together business organizations across campus in a spirit of friendly competition and philanthropy. Through teamwork and sportsmanship, BC members participate in an event that strengthens inter-organizational relationships while supporting a charitable cause.
KICKAPOO FALL RETREAT
Fall Retreat is an annual social retreat centered on outdoor activities and community building. Through shared experiences such as canoeing and group activities, members deepen connections, strengthen teamwork, and build a strong foundation for the fall semester.
END-OF-YEAR BBQ
The End-of-Year Barbecue is a celebratory gathering that marks the conclusion of the academic year. This event provides members with an opportunity to reflect on accomplishments, recognize shared experiences, and connect in a relaxed setting as the year comes to a close.
